Two new Snohomish County parks, Lake Goodwin and Willis Tucker, will open this fall.
* Willis Tucker Community Park will open at the end of October at 6705 Puget Park Drive on land near the county’s former Cathcart landfill. Officials expect to complete baseball fields, two playgrounds and a community activity center as part of $3.7 million in improvements on 27 acres.
The 84-acre project includes the new parks administration headquarters, which will be moved from leased space on Highway 9, said Marc Krandel, parks planning supervisor.
Other improvements include an amphitheater and a basketball court. The project is being paid for with housing development fees, real estate excise taxes and a state grant.
* Lake Goodwin Community Park will open in November at the site of a former beach resort at 4620 Lakewood Road. The sand beach has been restored, and the 7-acre park includes boardwalks, piers, a playground, trails and picnic facilities.
The improvements cost $1.7 million and were paid for with housing development fees and real estate excise taxes.
