BARING — The eastbound lane of U.S. 2 has reopened after a jackknifed semi blocked both directions of the highway for awhile Tuesday afternoon. Westbound was still blocked about 1:30 p.m.
A tow truck was at the scene by about 1:15 p.m., said trooper Keith Leary with the Washington State Patrol. The crash happened about 11 miles west of Skykomish, near Baring.
Cold weather, along with snow and ice on the roads, is contributing to the backup, Leary said.
“The conditions up there are just nasty,” he said. “With the amount of snow that’s forecast here today, people just need to be extremely prepared if they’re going over.”
No injuries were reported in the crash. It remained under investigation Tuesday afternoon.
