SNOHOMISH – A speeding convertible appeared to have caused a serious accident closing U.S. 2 near Snohomish today, officials said.
Several witnesses told police they spotted the car driving aggresively towards Monroe, Washington State Patrol Sgt. Harlan Jackson said.
The convertible apparently cut off an eastbound pick-up truck just east of Highway 9 at about 11:55 a.m. causing the truck to lose control and stop in the westbound lanes, he said.
Two men in the pick-up were hurt, one seriously, he said. Both men were taken to a local hospital.
Officials started letting westbound traffic pass on the highway’s shoulder about an hour after the crash. Eastbound traffic was being diverted to Highway 9. They hoped to reopen the highway soon. Police were still looking for the sports car.
