EVERETT — A Seattle man is headed back to prison after adding three more felony convictions to the 13 he’d already racked up.
Snohomish County Superior Court Judge Ronald Castleberry sentenced Tiron Jones to seven years in prison for a February crime spree that included a high-speed police chase and two crashes.
The judge called Jones, 43, a danger to the community. If he could, he’d lock Jones up for good, Castleberry said.
“Your whole adult life is essentially one crime after another,” the judge said. “You have a total disregard for the lives or safety of completely innocent people.”
Prosecutors alleged that Jones broke a woman’s nose, held her at knife-point, took her car and then crashed during a high-speed pursuit along I-5 in Seattle.
He pleaded guilty to three felonies in April, but attempted to take back his plea last month. Castleberry assigned him a new attorney to determine if there were grounds to withdraw his guilty plea.
Defense attorney Tom Cox said there had been a miscommunication between Jones and his former attorney. Jones didn’t want to take back his plea. He really just wanted time to marry his girlfriend, Cox said.
