That’s Uncle Sam all right, glaring and pointing at folks on this poster, but read it closely again.
They want folks in Snohomish to join the party, not prepare for war.
They are using what is called the “world’s most famous poster” to promote the Snohomish High School All Classes Reunion July 17-19 at Harvey Field.
For more information, visit www.snohomishreunion.com.
Debbie Emge, economic development manager for Snohomish, says the reunion is planned in honor of the city’s sesquicentennial, or 150th anniversary.
Emge is helping organize the get-together but didn’t graduate from Snohomish High.
“I’m from Butte, Montana,” Emge says. “But I’ve almost lived here as long as there.”
She has children who attend Snohomish High School, “so I feel like part of the group,” she said.

Fashions with a Christian touch were a hit Thursday at the Mill Creek Country Club.
Kristine Scoville, vice chairwoman of the Mill Creek Christian Women’s Connection, says five ladies modeled outfits from casual to dressy from Designer Consigner in Edmonds.
“Most of the clothes were washable and great for travel,” Scoville says. “It was a lot of fun.”
They plan meetings to be of interest to most women, she says.
“Following that we have a speaker who shares a bit of her life story and how she accepted Jesus as her lord and savior. She then invites anyone who would like to receive Jesus as their savior to pray silently with her.”
New members came to the fashion show, which was a blessing in a year when ladies may not do as much dining out.
“Only time will tell how the economy will affect our attendance,” she says.
The next meeting is 11:45 a.m. April 16. For more information, call 425-337-6335.

You don’t have to be Austrian to attend the March 28 Austria Club Viennese Ball.
Organizers Rosie Mulholland and Sigrid Vierthaler say Snohomish County has a large number of Austrians and Germans, but all cultures are welcome.
Violin-playing sisters will stroll around dinner tables. A Russian girl will play the piano, and dancers entertain after the meal.
It’s planned for 7 p.m. at the Nile Country Club, 6601 244th St. SW, Mountlake Terrace. Tickets are $75 and include the meal and dancing. Send money to Sigrid Vierthaler, 79 Olympic Drive NW, The Highlands, Seattle, WA 98177.
The Bert Carlson Band will entertain, too.
And the tunes you hear walking in will be played on a zither.

The city of Sultan is taking a road trip Saturday.
They are having a retreat — at the Monroe Library.
Why Monroe?
“Change of scenery,” city administrator Deborah Knight says. “The Monroe Library has a great meeting room.”
