USS Abraham Lincoln pulled out of its homeport in Everett on Tuesday morning to participate in routine exercises with Navy training aircraft squadrons.
The ship and its crew returned before Christmas from a previous training mission off the coast of California.
During that trip, an F/A18-D Hornet that took off from the Lincoln crashed in a residential area, killing four people on the ground and destroying two houses. While returning home, the Lincoln participated in a medical evacuation for a cargo ship crew member with the U.S. Coast Guard.
