USS Kitty Hawk on its way to Bremerton for deactivation

BREMERTON — The aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk is on its final cruise, headed to the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton.

The 47-year-old carrier — the Navy’s oldest active warship — left San Diego on Thursday. In addition to the regular crew, 65 former crew members are making the trip north as guests.

The ship is due to dock at Bremerton on Tuesday, where it will be deactivated. It is scheduled to be decommissioned early next year.
