BREMERTON — After a 16-month overhaul at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, the aircraft carrier John Stennis is preparing to return to sea.
The crew of 3,000 is getting ready with a five-day training exercise that starts Friday called a “fast cruise.” They’re operating as if they are cruising through the Pacific, although they’re still at the pier in Bremerton.
The Kitsap Sun reported if crew members have to leave the ship for some reason they have to request a seat on a simulated flight.
