OLYMPIA — Washington state Democratic House leaders say a lawmaker from Vancouver has resigned in the middle of the legislative session for “family and personal reasons.”
Democratic Majority Leader Pat Sullivan says that Rep. Jim Jacks submitted his letter of resignation Friday morning. A Democrat, Jacks represented the 49th district in the Vancouver area.
Sullivan says leadership did not ask for his resignation. He says Jacks was not in legal trouble, but that “family issues” prompted his resignation.
A call to Jacks’ office in Olympia was not answered. His legislative website has been shut down.
