VANCOUVER, Wash. — The superintendent of the Vancouver, Washington, school district is a finalist for a national award.
The American Association of School Administrators says Steven Webb is one of four finalists for national superintendent of 2016, which will be announced in February.
Webb was given the state award in November.
The director of the Washington Association of School Administrators says Webb was honored in this state for working to improve graduation rates for children in poverty and for aiming to personalize education for every student in the district.
Since 2010, the four-year on-time graduation rate in Vancouver Public Schools has gone up from 64 percent to more than 80 percent.
