VANCOUVER, Wash. — A Vancouver woman has been joining panhandlers at intersections with a sign that reads, “Please stop giving my kids money for heroin!”
Teri Joy told KATU Thursday (http://bit.ly/1b6ytEc ) she has two children who begged for money to buy drugs. She says her daughter is clean now but she hasn’t heard from a son in a while.
She said the panhandlers she sees are also someone’s kids. So, she carries the sign in her car and gets out whenever she sees them asking drivers for money.
The 52-year-old told KOIN she has been called names and told to watch her back. She says, “If I can stop one person from giving a dollar, I did something today.”
