EVERETT — A crane truck caught fire and shut down westbound traffic on Highway 526 Monday morning.
The fire scorched nearby grass and shrubs and snarled the freeway just west of I-5 near the Evergreen Way exit around 9 a.m.

The driver was not injured.
By midday, the truck had been removed but some westbound lanes were blocked for several hours more as crews cleaned up the roadway.
