SEATTLE — A Skagit County drug dealer with a violent history has been sentenced to a decade in prison.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Seattle says Cristobal Ortiz, 27, of Mount Vernon, was sentenced Thursday by U.S. District Judge Robert S. Lasnik.
The Drug Enforcement Administration arrested Ortiz in an undercover operation in early 2015. Authorities said they found four guns, methamphetamine, cocaine and nearly $130,000 in cash when they searched his home.
U.S. Attorney Annette L. Hayes said Ortiz had four prior felony convictions, three stemming from incidents where he or an associate fired weapons. Mount Vernon Police Chief Jerry Dodd told the court the defendant had been involved with a violent gang operating in Skagit County and that he had more than 150 contacts with law enforcement.
