A $262 million bond proposal that would renovate Snohomish High School and make other improvements across the Snohomish School District was failing narrowly in the first election results on Tuesday night.
Supporters were hopeful that the gap could be narrowed as more ballots are counted in the next several days. After the first count, the measure received 58.96 percent of the vote. The bond proposal needs a supermajority or 60 percent to pass.
Mukilteo School District voters were also rejecting a $139 million school bond measure that would renovate Mukilteo and Discovery elementary schools.
Edmonds School District voters were approving a $31.5 million levy to buy computers and laptops for classroom use.
In Arlington, voters again were rejecting a measure to build a new library. It’s the third time since 2000 that voters were asked to decide the library’s fate.
In 2006, the measure fell short of the 60 percent needed to pass by just 28 votes.
Voters in Lake Stevens and Darrington approved measures to allow their city library systems to join the Sno-Isle Library District.
