LOS ANGELES — A judge issued an arrest warrant and doubled Lindsay Lohan’s bail to $200,000 in a drunken-driving case after her court-ordered alcohol-monitoring bracelet’s alarm went off Sunday evening, alerting authorities.
Lohan is expected to turn herself in today and be released on bail.
It’s unclear why the alarm went off. The device alerts a monitoring company if it is tampered with or the person wearing it consumes alcohol.
Lohan attended the MTV Movie Awards the night the device when off.
Judge Marsha Revel said Tuesday that the alarm constitutes a violation of the 23-year-old actress’ bail agreement related to a probation violation on a 2007 drunken-driving case. Revel had ordered Lohan to wear the bracelet and told her not to consume alcohol.
The bracelet checks for traces of alcohol in the air above the user’s skin.
Any effort to tamper with the 10-ounce device immediately sends out an alert. The device was fitted on Lohan’s ankle at the courthouse after a May 24 hearing.
