PORT ORCHARD, Wash. — A Kitsap County woman charged with second-degree murder by neglect in her father’s death is to plead guilty to a lesser charge.
The attorney for Renee Nash told the Kitsap Sun that Nash would plead guilty to second-degree manslaughter in Kitsap County Superior Court on Thursday.
A coroner’s investigation found that 97-year-old Harlan Haynes died of malnutrition and dehydration. It also said he was dead two days before his daughter, who lived with him, reported his death.
Nash had told investigators she had noticed her father had died about two hours before she notified authorities.
