SNOHOMISH — Forget about vampires in Forks. Snohomish has zombies.
Piccadilly Circus English Pub &Steakhouse plans to hold a zombie walk at 7 tonight. About 35 people are expected to dress up as zombies, shamble out of the bar at 1104 First St. and wander a couple of blocks around the Historic Downtown.
It’s not the first zombie-related event for the bar: Bar employees and folks who hangout there organized several zombie parties using makeup for the blood and guts of the undead, owner Geoff Wall said.
He wants to plan a zombie walk once every year.
Still, Wall does not understand the zombie appeal.
“I’m too old for this, but a lot of kids love it,” Wall said.
Zombie culture has become popular, especially in the Northwest. Zombie walks and conventions devoted to the living dead have been held in Seattle.
The undead have been featured in movies, comic books and most recently in the popular AMC show “The Walking Dead.”
“It’s fun to dress as nasty as possible,” said Amanda Gilpin, who works as a bartender in Piccadilly and will be the make-up artist for the night. “We are not doing this to break a world record such as in Seattle. Ours is mostly just for fun.”
Also, it’s not everyday that you get to see zombies wander around Snohomish, she said.
The event was scheduled after Halloween so people can get costumes or make-up cheaper, Gilpin said.
After the walk, participants are expected to head back to Piccadilly for the bar’s last zombie party of the year.
People can find out more about the event at the Piccadilly Circus’ Facebook page.
