Snohomish County Auditor Carolyn Weikel was sworn in Oct. 2 as president of the Washington Association of County Officials during the organization’s annual conference.
WACO’s membership includes assessors, auditors, clerks, coroners, prosecutors, sheriffs and treasurers from Washington’s 39 counties.
Weikel said her priorities for her one-year term include focusing on legislative advocacy services, improving communications with members and strengthening financial policies, as well as enhancing training and education opportunities for WACO members.
Weikel began her career in King County’s licensing department, where she rose to a supervisor position before joining Snohomish County in a similar capacity in 1990. She was appointed elections and voter registration manager in 2003 and was first elected county auditor in 2007.
