Seattle has seen an explosion of neighborhood blogs recently. An event at the Seattle Public Library in downtown on Thursday will explore this phenomenon and what it means for traditional news sources, civic engagement and local communities.
The event is sponsored by Seattle CityClub and moderated by Monica Guzman of the Seattle P-I, which hosts neighborhood blogs written by readers.
Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. and the program starts at 6 p.m. It looks like there might even be a hands-on blogging session afterward, for anyone who’s interested in getting started with blogging. Sign up for free at CityClub’s site.
Where is Snohomish County’s own neighborhood blog explosion? So far, I haven’t seen it. Do you blog about where you live or have a local blog that you rely on? Post the links here and I’ll feature them in an upcoming item.
