The U.S. military says an Oak Harbor, Wash.-based Navy bomb disposal unit member has been killed by an explosive in Iraq’s Salahuddin province.
Petty Officer 2nd Class Kevin R. Bewley, 27, of Hector, Ark., was killed Monday.
He was assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit 11 at Whidbey Island Naval Air Station .
Bewley is the 16th service member with connections to Snohomish or Island counties and the sixth from the Whidbey bomb disposal unit to die in the Iraq war.
