CLINTON — A bank robber on Whidbey Island stole more than money Monday.
The man wearing a black mask, gloves and camouflage jacket over a black hooded sweatshirt threatened employees with a handgun and demanded a set of car keys belonging to a woman working at the bank, Island County Sheriff’s Office detective Ed Wallace said.
The robbery occurred shortly before noon Monday at the Clinton branch of Wells Fargo Bank in the 8900 block of Highway 525.
The suspect drove off in the woman’s silver 2000 Toyota 4Runner. The license number is 152-XHP.
He is described as being about 6 foot to 6 foot 2 inches tall.
As a precaution, schools in the area briefly were placed on lockdown.
