LAKE STEVENS – The explosive Waterfall wildfire burning thousands of miles away in Nevada not only has destroyed at least 14 homes and 6,100 acres – it also has disrupted the Lake Steven’s Web site and e-mail for the past few days.
City officials began noticing problems about halfway through the day on Wednesday, Mayor Lynn Walty said, noting that he wasnt receiving e-mails hed been sent. The citys server is based in or near Carson City, the Nevada state capital, where the Waterfall wildfire has created havoc.
Officials have been unable to reach anyone at the site and have no idea how long the Web site and e-mail will be down, he said.
Anyone who needs information should call City Hall at 425-334-1012. Walty can be reached by pager at 425-513-3811.
The Nevada fire may have been started by teenagers who were in a canyon Tuesday, authorities said. Five people have been injured and exclusive homes burned as the fire moved to within a half mile of the governors mansion.
