Wind gusts as high as 45 mph are forecast for early Tuesday morning as a strong frontal system moves north. The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a wind advisory for Snohomish County.
The storm, which is expected to hit this area late tonight and last through the morning commute, likely could topple trees and toss loose yard furniture, said Jim Prange, a forecaster with the weather service.
“Along with wind, also look for rainfall,” sometimes heavy, he said.
It’s a good idea to bring loose yard furniture indoors or secure it. Otherwise it could end up “topsy turvy” in the gusts, Prange said.
The sustained winds forecast as strong as 30 mph also pose a risk for newly leafed trees.
“It’ll push small branches down and could actually topple smaller trees,” he said.
Power outages are also a concern when heavy winds knock down trees.
