I love planning. I love beginnings and dreaming up something grand. In the winter, my gardens are pure potential. I haven’t fallen behind on the weeding. I haven’t accidentally killed any plants. At this time of year, everything is possible.
Next year, I’m going to try — again — to get some decent tomatoes. I’m dreaming up some schemes involving more potted tomatoes. I’ll grow sugar snap peas again. They were easy, pretty and super tasty. I’ll also try some green beans. Since we buy those every weekend at the farmers’ market, it seems it’s time to try some of our own. I’ll also plant kale again — I love the flavor and it seems to be idiot proof.
I’m also thinking I may move some of my bulbs. I will do that soon, if I do it this year. And I have a rose bush that has to go. I’ve never really liked it, and I don’t want a fussy plant that doesn’t make me happy. I’m thinking a really nice witch hazel might take its place. I’d love to have some more autumn color, and a plant that flowers in the winter earns huge points with me.
So, that’s what I’m dreaming about right now. What are you plans for your garden? Drop me a line and let me know. Or leave a comment here. I’ll share any ideas and dreams in a later post.
