EVERETT — Someone broke into an Everett fire inspector’s work vehicle to steal his portable radio, badge, hearing aids and a personal checkbook.
An Everett woman was arrested this week for investigation of cashing one of his checks.
The inspector had gone into a building on Lombard Street for about an hour Aug. 30, according to police reports filed in Everett District Court. He returned to find someone cleaned out his city fire department vehicle, taking a department-issued shirt and a duffle bag containing hearing aids worth $3,000.
In November, he was alerted that someone cashed a check at an ATM, to take out the maximum withdrawal of $500. Security photos showed a woman. Police recognized her from another pending identity theft investigation.
The next day the woman, 26, tried stealing $1,800 more by depositing a check into her new BECU account, but she wasn’t able to withdraw any money, according to the police reports.
Officers arrested the woman on warrants around 1 a.m. Monday in a parking lot off E. Marine View Drive. She’s accused of felonies: identity theft, fraud, forgery and possession of stolen property.
