DARRINGTON — A 22-year-old Anacortes woman was arrested Thursday in connection with a shooting Saturday near Darrington.
The woman was being held at Skagit County Jail for investigation of drive-by shooting, said Tom Molitor, chief criminal deputy at the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office.
On Saturday, a 23-year-old man was shot in the head after a dispute between two groups at Dearinger Campground.
Deputies believe the Anacortes woman was in one of the groups and that she fired shots from a vehicle near the other group’s campsite, Molitor said.
Someone in the other group returned fire, striking the 23-year-old man. He is expected to be released from a Seattle hospital in a couple of days.
Skagit County deputies were alerted to the shooting after the victim’s friends drove him to Darrington to get medical help. They were unable to get reception on their cellphones at the campground.
The investigation was ongoing as of Thursday night, and further arrests are possible, Molitor said.
