COUPEVILLE — Island County deputies arrested a woman sought after a domestic dispute in which her husband allegedly was knocked down by her car as she fled the scene.
The 25-year-old woman was scheduled to make an initial appearance Friday in Island County Superior Court on investigation of first-degree assault and first-degree malicious mischief, sheriff’s spokeswoman Jan Smith said Friday.
The woman allegedly took a baseball bat and broke out the headlights of her husband’s car about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday at their home in the 3200 block of State Street near Oak Harbor. A relative called 911, Smith said.
Deputies arrived within four minutes, but the woman had fled after allegedly knocking her husband down with her car while he stood between her car and another vehicle. The impact dented the woman’s 1984 Suburban and caused the other car to crash into the wall of the couple’s mobile home, Smith said.
The husband was treated at Whidbey General Hospital and released.
Deputies had been searching for the woman since they found her car abandoned in the area.
