EVERETT — Police are investigating a home-invasion robbery attempt that went wrong when the bad guys raided the wrong apartment.
An Everett woman, around 30, was startled out of bed when two men broke down the door to her place early Tuesday morning, Everett police Sgt. Robert Goetz said.
The break-in occurred just before 1 a.m. in the 700 block of W. Casino Road, Goetz said.
At first the woman believed the noise was her cat, said Steven Biehl, the woman’s uncle. Then she was confronted by the men.
She was knocked down and kicked in the face, Goetz said.
“They kept asking, ‘Where’s the safe?’ ” Biehl said.
The woman was taken to the hospital and likely will require surgery to repair broken bones to her face, Biehl said.
Goetz said a laptop computer and other property was stolen.
He said detectives believe the intruders likely targeted the wrong apartment. No arrests have been made.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Everett police tip line at 425-257-8450.
