YAKIMA — A woman was killed in a house fire overnight at Yakima.
The East Valley Fire Department said the fire started about 1 a.m. Thursday while a husband and wife were at home.
The chief tells KNDO-TV the man escaped and thought his wife was outside, too. When he realized she was still inside he ran back to a window. But she collapsed and didn’t make it out.
Arriving firefighters found flames shooting 30 feet high. It took about an hour to put out the fire.
