A Woodinville woman was fatally injured Monday when her pickup skidded off northbound I-5 near Stanwood, police said.
Nellitta F. Ayers, 58, apparently hydroplaned in heavy rain while trying to pass another car, according to the State Patrol. She went off the road and into the median, with the pickup ending up in the trees.
The woman was apparently driving too fast for the rainy conditions, according to the State Patrol. The accident was reported at 8:53 a.m. Monday just south of 300th Street NW.
Meanwhile, in Gold Bar, a Monroe man was injured when his car hit a tree off U.S. 2. The man, 25, went off the road about 2:15 a.m., according to the State Patrol. He was taken to Valley General Hospital in Monroe, where he was in stable condition Monday.
