PUYALLUP — Police say a woman has been fatally shot at a Puyallup home.
The News Tribune reported that Sabrena Defreece, 18, was shot Tuesday morning at a friend’s home while listening to music.
Puyallup police say they were called to the house on the 900 block of 18th Avenue Southwest around 7 a.m. They say she was dead when they arrived.
Police say Defreece was sitting in a bedroom with a 19-year-old male friend at his house when the shooting happened. Police have arrested the man and are trying to determine whether the shooting was accidental.
Police Capt. Scott Engle told the Tribune the man was handling a handgun when it went off and hit her.
The man told detectives he didn’t know the gun was loaded.
