TACOMA — A Pierce County, Wash., sheriff’s officer said a woman found dead in her home had been stabbed. Her estranged husband was hospitalized with apparently self-inflicted knife wounds, but is expected to survive.
Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said coworkers called authorities, concerned that 50-year-old Carol Selland had not shown up for work Monday. Deputies saw two bodies lying on the floor, then the 47-year-old man opened his eyes. Troyer told The News Tribune that although the man was seriously injured, deputies had to use a stun gun and bean bag gun to subdue him.
The man was reported in serious condition — and under guard — Monday night at Tacoma General Hospital.
The spokesman said deputies were called to the home last year on a domestic violence report. Troyer said Selland had a restraining order against her husband.
