EVERETT – Police believe an Everett woman scoured unlocked gym lockers for valuables as part of an identity theft ring that spanned from Everett to Tukwila.
Bothell police arrested the woman, 37, Tuesday near her duplex on Beech Street in south Everett.
She reportedly had stolen the keys to a Chevy Tahoe from the women’s locker room at the Northshore Pool in Bothell the day before, according to court records.
The woman reportedly drove off with the vehicle, and also stole a wallet with credit cards, a checkbook and a cellular phone. She ditched the sport utility vehicle in a store parking lot, according to court documents.
Detectives were able to determine that a man who was seen driving away from the pool at the time of the theft lived with the Everett woman. She was convicted of stealing from lockers in Everett several years ago.
Tuesday, police searched the woman’s duplex, where they found at least 50 cellular phones, purses and backpacks and hundreds of keys.
They found stacks of stolen driver’s licenses, credit cards and checkbooks, Everett police Sgt. Gary Woodburn said.
Police also found a list of at least 30 athletic clubs in Snohomish and King counties.
It is likely the woman was not working alone, police said. Several of the items had been stolen from vehicles, including gear belonging to an Arlington firefighter that was taken during a car prowl in Marysville.
Detectives have found more than 50 victims and were sorting through the evidence most of the week.
Police believe the woman was putting her picture on other people’s driver’s licenses to assume their identities and use their credit cards and checkbooks.
