EVERETT — An Everett woman was taken to a local hospital Saturday afternoon after she swerved to avoid a collision with a vehicle that was racing down I-5.
The Washington State Patrol said the woman, 28, was driving her Chevy Equinox northbound when she encountered two vehicles traveling at high speeds near the 41st Street overpass.
When she swerved to avoid one of the speeding vehicles, she hit an Acura before running into a tree.
A Woodinville woman, 49, driving the Acura was not injured. She was able to driver her damaged vehicle away from the scene.
The Washington State Patrol is seeking the public’s help in identifying the drivers who may have been racing during the 1:35 p.m. incident.
One was at the wheel of a black, full-size Dodge pickup with tinted windows. The Dodge, which appeared to be 2000s-vintage, had a “12th man” flag and a regular Seahawks flag as well as a dark tinted Seahawks logo in the rear window.
The other vehicle was described as a black Lexus SUV.
Anyone who witnessed the collision or may have any information about the events leading up to it is asked to call patrol detective Charles Sletten, 360-654-1144.
