ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The Coast Guard said a glacier tour boat passenger sustained a compound fracture in her right leg after the vessel was hit by ice chunks and a wave from a nearby calvilng glacier in Alaska’s Tracy Arm.
KTUU-TV said a video recorded by a passenger on the Tracy Arm Fjords Tours boat posted online that shows passengers duck and scream as the wave hits, then gather around a figure lying on the deck.
The Coast Guard said the 60-year-old woman lost her balance and fell when the wave rocked the boat Thursday.
The vessel returned to Juneau and was met by emergency medical services.
Tracy Arm Fjords Tours cited a pending Coast Guard investigation and had no comment Monday.
