EDMONDS — Two cars collided near the King-Snohomish County line early Saturday morning, seriously injuring one woman and leading to the arrest of a man on suspicion of driving under the influence, Edmonds police said.
The crash occurred on Highway 99 around 12:30 a.m.
A man driving south ran a red light and hit another car heading east on a green light through the intersection with 244th Street SW, police Sgt. Shane Hawley said.
The man’s car ended up on its roof. Officers took the 24-year-old driver from Seattle into custody after noting an “odor of intoxicants on his breath,” Hawley said.
Firefighters had to cut apart the other car to rescue the 58-year-old woman behind the wheel, Hawley said. The Lynnwood woman was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
Crash investigators were looking into whether speed played a role in the collision.
