A Seattle woman who fell to her death in a rock-climbing accident July 2 taught at an Everett elementary school.
Emily Failla, 24, taught fourth grade at Madison Elementary School, Everett School District spokeswoman Mary Waggoner said. It was Failla’s first year teaching after receiving her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn.
Failla and another climber were rappelling down Condor Buttress, a rock formation about eight miles up the Icicle Creek Canyon from Leavenworth, when Failla fell about 800 feet.
