BOTHELL – The woman told police that she was given a choice: submit to rape, or leave the hotel room in a body bag.
Her ex-boyfriend was ordered jailed Tuesday for investigation of first-degree kidnapping and first-degree rape.
Timothy R. Bland, 27, allegedly took the woman to an Everett hotel room against her will and told her that if she refused sex she’d be killed, according to court papers filed Tuesday in Everett District Court.
The woman told Snohomish County sheriff’s detectives that Bland arrived at her Bothell-area home about 7 p.m. Sunday, spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said. They’d recently broken up, court papers said.
The woman, 25, walked to Bland’s car. That’s when he allegedly grabbed her arm and forced her into the car, she told police.
Bland allegedly punched the woman in the head and face. She tried to get out of the car and run away, but he grabbed her by the hair and pulled her back into the car, she told police.
While in the car, Bland allegedly forced the woman to have sex, threatening to kill her if she didn’t, according to court papers.
They wound up in a hotel room in the 8400 block of Broadway.
“Don’t make a scene or I will kill you,” he allegedly told the woman, court papers said.
The woman told police Bland assaulted her with a belt and a foot-long chain. He allegedly took out a gun, held it to her head and forced her to have sex.
When she refused, Bland threatened to tie her up and told her that if she didn’t submit she’d leave “in a body bag,” according to court papers.
The woman escaped and called 911 after Bland fell asleep. Detectives noticed evidence of an assault, the papers said.
A SWAT team arrested Bland Monday in his hotel room. Police found a bloodied pillow and a handgun in the room.
Bland has a criminal record, court records show. A judge Tuesday ordered him jailed on $150,000 bail.
