EVERETT — A second woman police believe was attacked by a serial rape suspect told detectives she thought she was going to be killed.
Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies were called to the Clearview area April 26 after receiving a report of a sexual assault near Highway 9 and Broadway Avenue.
The woman, 42, told detectives she had been walking along Highway 9 when a man in his 20s and driving a white box truck offered her a ride. After getting in the truck, the victim said the driver pulled over and started to choke her and then raped her at knifepoint.
A witness told deputies she watched the woman run into traffic on Highway 9 and a saw a white truck head northbound on the highway.
The witness said the woman was screaming that she had been raped and choked and that her attacker had tried to kill her.
The woman told deputies she wanted to go to the hospital and have DNA evidence taken.
Court papers describe a victim adamant about preserving evidence.
“This guy’s young and he’s gonna do it again,” she reportedly said. “He went straight to my throat, he doesn’t care about human life.”
Dean T. Connors, 24, has been arrested for investigation of two counts of rape and is being held in the Snohomish County Jail on $1 million bail. The Arlington man was arrested Tuesday evening as part of an Everett investigation in which a woman said he raped her at knifepoint in 2014.
Lab results indicated that DNA samples matched between the sheriff’s office and Everett police department cases.
Earlier this week, Everett police reported that they are working with other law enforcement agencies. They said the suspect admitted to violent sexual encounters with other victims.
