EDMONDS — A woman suffered possibly life-threatening injuries in a fire at an Edmonds motel Friday.
A heavy column of black smoke rose from the St. Francis Motel on Highway 99, when flames broke out around 11:50 a.m., South County Fire spokeswoman Leslie Hynes said.
Crews found one woman suffered severe injuries. She was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
One firefighter also suffered minor injuries.
About 10 people were displaced from the single-story motel, just north of the King County line. Shoreline firefighters were called in to help.
An initial estimate pegged the damage at $200,000.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation. It appeared to be accidental, Hynes said.
