LAKE STEVENS — Lake Stevens police are investigating a serious injury collision between a Ford Contour sedan and a semi truck at the intersection of Highway 9 and Lundeen Parkway that sent a young woman to the hospital and snarled traffic for hours.
The crash occurred around 12:30 p.m. and the highway was completely blocked all afternoon during the investigation.
The car apparently crossed the center line and smashed into the truck, police said. The semi was hauling gravel and flipped onto its side, spilling its load, Lake Stevens Police Chief Randy Celori said.
The Snohomish woman, 18, was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment. Her condition was not immediately available. The driver of the semi wasn’t seriously hurt, police reported.
