YAKIMA — Yakima Police are investigating the shooting death of a 24-year-old woman in the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant.
Sgt. Mike Costello says the woman was unconscious and slumped over in her car when officers responded just before 2 a.m. Sunday. She was shot in the upper body. She was taken to a local hospital where she later died.
Costello said the preliminary investigation indicates the woman was in a vehicle that had just entered the Taco Bell parking lot when she was struck by a bullet. She was seated and no one else in the vehicle was injured.
Police say a motive for the shooting is unclear. The woman had no gang affiliation.
