CAMANO ISLAND – A woman’s body was discovered this morning near the entrance of Camano Island State Park, according to the Island County Sheriff’s Office.
The woman apparently died of injuries to her neck and head, sheriff’s spokeswoman Jan Smith said. Detectives are investigating the death as a homicide.
Investigators believe her body was dumped at the park, Smith said. The woman, who appeared to be in her 30s, was found at around 11:45 a.m. today. Her name was not immediately known.
The 134-acre park has been closed. People visiting the park when the woman’s body was discovered were not able to leave immediately, due to investigators working at the entrance and a need to question possible witnesses, Smith said.
