EVERETT – The body of a woman was found in the trunk of a stolen car Sunday, and police are investigating her death as a homicide.
Police discovered the woman’s body after the car was towed from a private parking lot in south Everett, Everett police Sgt. Boyd Bryant said.
A person called about the car being illegally parked.
A tow truck driver retrieved the car and hauled it to a local impound lot, Bryant said.
A call to police revealed that the car had been reported stolen.
Officers went to the impound lot to inspect the car and do an inventory of damage. They found the woman’s body in the trunk.
It was not known how long she had been in the car.
The county medical examiner was expected to do an autopsy to determine how the woman died.
As of Monday, police did not know the woman’s name, Bryant said.
Technicians with the Washington State Patrol are expected to examine the car for evidence.
Anyone with information is asked to call the police tip line at 425-257-8450.
