BOTHELL — A bridge-replacement project on Locust Way over Swamp Creek is slated to begin in early June.
The start date was scheduled after nearby schools let out for the year, according to county public works engineer Larry Brewer. Construction is expected to wrap up in the fall.
The County Council awarded a $1.5 million contract bid Wednesday to McClure &Sons, Inc., of Mill Creek. Federal funds will cover 80 percent of the project’s total cost of about $2.5 million.
The existing structure, known as Swamp Creek Bridge No. 504, has two lanes and was built in 1936. It was rebuilt in 1958 and 1988. It’s located in an unincorporated area between Brier and Bothell.
A different county bridge over Swamp Creek, No. 546 on Carter Road, was replaced in 2013.
