MARYSVILLE — A construction worker from Sedro-Woolley died Thursday morning after he was struck by car just east of Marysville while attempting to stop traffic to allow a truck to back out of a driveway.
The Washington State Patrol identified the victim as Bryan L. Ward, 55. He was struck about 9:30 a.m. by a 1994 Honda Accord, which had been traveling west on Highway 528 near 83rd Avenue NE, troopers said.
He was airlifted him to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he was pronounced dead just before 11 a.m.
The car had been traveling down the hill toward Marysville on a wet roadway. The driver, a 21-year-old from Marysville, suffered injuries that were treated by responding firefighters, troopers said.

Avalanche control: State highway workers are planning avalanche control work on U.S. 2 today from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., leading to likely traffic delays and outright stoppages.
The work is planned for U.S. 2 between mileposts 58 and 64.
Snohomish
Car accident: A woman was injured Thursday night in a one-car accident along the S-curves on Seattle Hill Road between Snohomish and Mill Creek.
The female driver of the car, whose name was not released by press time, was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center. She was in serious condition and being treated for a possible head injury.
The woman’s car apparently skidded off the road and into a ditch about 7 p.m. while going around a tight, 25 mph corner, according to Snohomish Fire and Rescue.
Washington State Patrol is investigating the accident, but did not have additional information at press time.
