EVERETT — Workforce Snohomish is planning a new program to help meet the employment needs of veterans, active-duty military and their families.
A grand opening ceremony for The Serve Center is planned for 2 p.m. Wednesday at WorkSource Everett, in Everett Station, 3201 Smith Ave., Suite 215.
The center is designed to help veterans, active-duty military and their families receive employment and training services and is expected to help businesses find skilled workers.
An estimated 60,000 people in Snohomish County are veterans or are currently serving in the armed forces.
“Veterans, military and their families are the backbone of our democracy,” said Sue Ambler, CEO of Workforce Snohomish. “They serve us in myriad ways. It’s time for us to serve them. This center is the result of many people coming together to provide tailored workforce development services to our veteran and military clients and their families. It is an honor to be opening The Serve Center two days after Veterans Day.”
A one-hour ribbon cutting celebration is planned at the grand opening, recognizing Snohomish County veterans and military members and will include keynote addresses by Ambler, Snohomish County Executive John Lovick and other regional leaders.
Also, support services will be offered at the event including holiday meal vouchers and transportation assistance for veterans, military members and families in need.
