TACOMA — An intruder who was shot by a Gig Harbor homeowner pleaded guilty to criminal trespassing Thursday in Tacoma.
The News Tribune reported that Brandon Bird, 37, was given a suspended one-year sentence, which means he will not have to serve time if he commits no other crimes.
Bird went to the home asking for directions and the homeowner printed a map for him from the Internet. Bird aroused suspicion by asking about the man’s family. He was shot when he ignored warnings to stop and opened the front door and walked inside.
The homeowner was not charged.
