VANCOUVER, Wash. — Clark County is being sued by a former Vancouver. Wash., police officer who was wrongfully convicted of sexually abusing his children in the 1980s.
Clyde Ray Spencer filed suit in federal court in Tacoma, alleging false imprisonment and malicious prosecution.
Spencer is seeking unspecified damages in the action filed June 2.
The Columbian said Clark County Chief Civil Deputy Prosecutor Bronson Potter declined comment this week, saying he had yet to see the lawsuit.
After Spencer spent nearly 20 years in prison, his conviction was vacated by the Court of Appeals in 2009 and charges were officially dismissed in September 2010.
