SEATTLE — A Seattle man who was wrongfully imprisoned for a decade and awarded nearly $500,000 from the state is back in custody.
The Seattle Times reported that Brandon Olebar, 32, has been accused of selling methamphetamine, driving a getaway car during a burglary and selling stolen guns.
Olebar was released in 2013 after spending 10 years in prison for a 2003 robbery during which a man was beaten unconscious. His conviction was based solely on witness testimony. He was the first person to receive wrongful-conviction compensation from the state.
Now he has three ongoing criminal complaints, two in King County Superior Court and another in U.S. District Court, accusing him of new crimes.
